The Caribbean is a spectacular place to visit with warm temperatures, beautiful blue water and magnificent sunsets. The only way to make this destination any more special is to visit aboard Azamara Club Cruises. This is exactly what Susan Entringer did in December of 2016. Having explored the world we wanted to find out her take on this island vacation.
What were your favorite destinations? Why?
I enjoyed Virgin Gorda because of the amazing scenery, vistas, blue waters and the friendly people. I also enjoyed St. Barts because it was extremely clean, the gorgeous homes and high end resorts, beautiful harbor filled with “over the top” yachts and the European feel as they all spoke French and used Euros.
Did you go on any special shore excursions or side-trips?
I had the opportunity to participate in “BOSS” (Breathing Operational Submersible Scooter) on St Thomas. This was similar to an underwater motorcycle / scooter. We could breathe underwater, without masks or snorkels and controlled (drove) our own scooters underwater! It was very fun and unusual. This was something I had never done or seen before.
What are your top three pieces of advice for someone going on a similar trip?
- Arrive 1 day prior to boarding the ship due to potential flight delays / issues.
- Bring plenty of shorts and/or swim attire due to the humid weather (one time wear for most things).
- Be patient and relax…island time is not to be hurried or rushed.
Have you been to this destination before, or would you want to come back again? Why?
All these islands were new destinations for me. I’ve been to many other islands in the Caribbean, however, I would return to St. Barts in a minute!
Do you have any upcoming trips that you are excited about?
South Africa land based tour with Tauck in March 2017!
