Margaret was born and raised in New York State. After a career in Washington, DC, that included White House editor on Presidential publications, she retired early to pursue travel as a full-time career. She moved to Tucson in December 2004 and joined Bon Voyage Travel. Margaret has made several visits to Italy, including Rome, Umbria, Tuscany, and the Italian Lakes. She especially enjoys tailoring a trip to her clients' particular interests. In addition, Margaret is a luxury cruise specialist; she has cruised on Celebrity, Cunard, Disney, Holland America, Norwegian, Princess, Regent Seven Seas, and Seabourn. She is a member of the business organization Women at the Top and enjoys Broadway theatre (she grew up 45 minutes from Broadway), walking, collecting antiques, movies, and reading English mysteries. Margaret's favorite destination is the British Isles; she has visited the United Kingdom more than 20 times. On most trips, she has spent two weeks in the UK with one of the weeks in London. For the other week, she has visited Cornwall, the Cotswolds, Scotland, the Lake District, East Anglia, Wales, and Yorkshire. She participated in the first tour to James Herriot's Yorkshire. (Herriot was the author of the All Creatures Great and Small series). She has visited Yorkshire several times since that initial trip. On one trip to Cornwall, she planned an itinerary that included visits to all of the King Arthur sites in Wells, Glastonbury, and Tintagel. On another trip, Margaret stayed in Cambridge and visited many of the World War II sites connected with the U.S. Eighth Air Force, including the American Cemetery in Cambridge and the still-active British Airfield in Duxford where the Imperial War Museum has a major collection of airplanes from that era. Ireland runs a close second to the United Kingdom for Margaret, and she has visited there six times. The most memorable was a 3-week driving tour throughout the country. She also attended a family wedding in Donegal and saw the very rugged beauty of the northwest counties. In October 2008, Margaret escorted a group of Bon Voyage clients on an historic transatlantic crossing on Cunard's Queen Mary 2. The QM2 escorted the Queen Elizabeth 2 on her 806th and final trip across the Atlantic. The two ships departed New York Harbor for Southampton, England, sailing in tandem for the duration of the crossing.
